I really appreciated learning Ravindra’s framing of “relaxing the emotions.” I have been thinking a lot about men and how we are raised as boys. There’s a popular joke about the word “fine“ being an acronym for/another way of saying effed up, insecure, neurotic, and emotional. I just realized how guys make being emotional a problem.
It's definitely worth digging into both for men and women, boys and girls, about how we are trained about handling our emotions. It's a lifetime to sort out what is helpful and what isn't - Ravindra's relaxing our responses also is about the reaction after the emotion - to your point, we get taught that our emotions are wrong somehow. Looking into that belief system and questioning whether it is helpful or not, can lead to a more relaxed experience. No need to be against ourselves in our experiences.
